India customs official found dead in Churpur village

LUDHIANA: Rajesh Kumar, a 50-year-old customs & Excise superintendent, was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a paddy field in Churpur village near Hambra here today.

The incident came to light in the morning, when residents of the village found his body. They informed the police. Soon the police arrived and contacted Rajesh’s wife. According to her, Rajesh left home at 9am yesterday for office on his scooter, but he did not return home in the evening.

Rajesh’s relatives then began looking for him but failed to locate him. Rajesh’s phone was switched off.

Today Rajesh’s body was found in a semi-nude condition. Rajesh’s scooter was lying on the floor and his nostrils and mouth had some blood on it. His body also bore burn marks.

The police have reportedly recovered a water bottle, celphos tablets and a suicide note wherein Rajesh has reportedly stated that he was suffering from some incurable disease due to which he was ending his life.

Rajesh’s son is studying in America, while his daughter is pursuing further studies in Chandigarh.
