ISLAMABAD: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC), during a meeting under chairmanship of Opposition Leader Syed Khurshid Shah, has taken notice of 350 vehicles sold at lowest prices among officers by the Oil and Gas Regularity Authority (OGDCL) and also ordered the Petroleum Ministry to submit a report on Rs124 billion oil theft from PARCO Muzzafargarh.
Committee was informed that the OGDCL had sold out just five-year-old 24 vehicles only in Rs24,000 under the monetisation policy to its retired officers. OGDCL Managing Director Muhammad Rafeeh told the committee that selling five-year-old model vehicles on 10 per cent price of their real price to the retired officers is a normal practice in corporate sector. He said that OGDCL sold six to seven years old 350 vehicles for only one million and the decision was taken after seeking permission of the Board of Directors.
Committee members Mian Abdul Manan and Juniad Anwar Chaudhary criticised the monetisation policy and questioned that how can the OGDCL sold 2008 model vehicle in one thousand rupees and 2009 model vehicle in Rs4,800? The members suggested the committee to send this issue to Federal Investigation Agency [FIA] for investigation.
The PAC also discussed the issue of oil robbery of Rs124 billion from PARCO and criticised the role of officials of Petroleum Ministry. Mian Abdul Manan said that it was more than Rs1,000 billion robbery but the relevant ministry did not play an active role for bringing to book the culprits.
