HOUSTON: Four men are accused of smuggling fake pet products into the country. The products claimed to be Frontline and Frontline Plus, a topical treatment used to treat flea and ticks in dogs and cats.
The federal indictment says the medicine had false labels. Investigators say the products were shipped under the pretense that they were going to be used by charities, but the products ended up at various Target stores. The counterfeit products have been removed from store shelves.
A multi-organization investigation led to the arrest of four men from across the world: Iain MacKellar, Lam Tran, Allen Smith and William Humphreys. The men were suspected members of one of the largest known importers of fake pet products. They face charges ranging from wire fraud, mail fraud to trafficking.
