50m population: Lawyers rally for 5th province, South Punjab high court

MULTAN: The population of more than 50 million direly needed a separate province and an independent high court to cater to their needs.

This was the crux of speech made by of High Court Bar Association Multan (HCBAM) President Syed Athar Shah Bukhari and General Secretary Sajjad Hussain Tangra while leading a lawyers rally taken out to press the authorities accept their demands.

The rally was led by the HCBAM president emphasized that independent high court in Multan was need of the hour to deal with the cases of South Punjab.

The rally began from bar complex and concluded at SP Chowk. They were of the view that selection of senior and competent lawyers of this zone as judges of High court and a separate province be constituted for the population of 50 million people.

They said that more than 50 million people had a consensus on creation of fifth federating unit of Pakistan and 29 bars are in favour of a separate province. Earlier they held a protest meeting in the bar hall.
