CANBERRA: The Australian customs protection service has announced it is partnering with KGH Border Services to help develop Australia’s new trusted trader programme.
KGH Border Services will provide ACBPS with consultancy services to assist with the design and implementation of the Trusted Trader Programme.
ACBPS Trusted Trader Branch Assistant Secretary Teresa Conolan said the partnership represents an important step forward for the Trusted Trader Programme.
“KGH Border Services bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in working with other customs administrations internationally to set up Authorized Economic Operator Programmes. Customs and Border Protection is pleased to be working with KGH Border Services in our efforts to encourage legitimate trade, and support the growth and expansion of Australia’s economy,” she said.
Ms Conolan said KGH Border Services will provide valuable support as ACBPS prepares to launch its Trusted Trader Programme Pilot on 1 July 2015.
The 12 month pilot will initially include a limited number of exporters representing a cross section of industry, but importers and all other components of the supply chain will be included in later stages of the pilot. The number of participants in the pilot will also increase as the pilot progresses.
Ms Conolan said pilot participants will have to meet international supply chain security and trade compliance standards, but they will receive a number of benefits like enhanced client service through the provision of a dedicated Client Service Manager, fewer examinations and priority consideration of applications for advance rulings, duty drawbacks and tariff advice reviews.
