Lexus in a free trade agreement with Japan, slashes prices on Hatches, Sedans, SUVs

SYDNEY: Lexus is the latest Japanese carmaker to announce price cuts for models sold in Australia, in response to the free trade agreement with its home country.

Starting this month, new Lexus customers will be between $2,000 and $8,630 better off, with savings applied across most of the carmaker’s local line-up.

Joining reduced launch pricing for the new NX SUV and RC Coupe, this month brings new pricing for the CT, IS and ES, along with GS, LS, RX and LX variants.

The three CT 200h premium hybrid hatch variants are at the lower end of the savings scale but are still a considerable $2,000 more affordable, while the LS range is the big winner, with the 600hl down $8,630.

Lexus Australia chief executive Sean Hanley said the new price structure would open the Lexus brand up to a band of new customers.

“Now we can offer our existing model lines with even more competitive pricing to allow more customers to experience the vast benefits of Lexus ownership,” Mr Hanley said.

“It is positive news for our brand and customers and adds to what is already a significant year for Lexus as it celebrates its 25th anniversary.”

Lexus’s new price structure brings it into line with parent company Toyota, which announced its own range of price-cuts last month.

Fellow Japanese carmakers Mazda and Subaru also announced price-cuts in January.
