LAHORE: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized a huge quantity of smuggled goods, including vehicles and ceramic tiles, worth Rs 30.87 million in January.
On special Direction of Customs Director Imtiaz Ahmad Khan 9 special squads are working against smuggled goods in Lahore. These special squads of Customs Intelligence and Investigation raided in different areas of Lahore during January and confiscated large amount of smuggled goods.
Additional Director Mohsin Rafique is leading the teams of Customs Intelligence. In January Customs Intelligence and Investigation has registered 6 cases against smugglers and arrested 6 accused as well. Customs I&I during January seized a large number of smuggled items including cloths, Ceramic tiles, Auto parts, Tin plates and vehicles of Honda company.
According to Customs officials Customs Intelligence and Investigation has confiscated 2 non duty paid vehicles from Multan road area and Defense Lahore. Honda Accord was confiscated from Multan road while Honda VTI was seized from Defense Housing Authority. Meanwhile Customs Intelligence and Investigation seized 66000 meters cloths including cotton and other kinds of stuff. Ceramic tiles made by Iran were also seized by specials squads including 2024 meters tile that was smuggled through Baluchistan to Lahore.
Huge quantity of plastic materials was also impounded by Customs Intelligence from Multan Road, Misri Shah and Band Roads areas of Lahore. It includes 21,925 kg of plastic grains, 24,000 kg plastic bags and 47,000 Kg Plastic molding compound. In other raids Customs Intelligence impounded 24,000 kg Tin plates that were also smuggled from Iran through Baluchistan. Numbers of other goods were seized by Customs I&I are more than 33,000 Kg weight.
Specials squads of Customs Intelligence and Investigation are carrying on their work to eliminate the smuggled items from markets.
