KARACHI – The House adopted a resolution to ensure uninterrupted supply of 650MW from National Grid to K-Electric regardless of any earlier deal as Karachi contributes 70 percent revenue to the national exchequer.
On the occasion, MQM member Syed Khalid Ahmed who had moved the resolution said that since Karachi was the economic hub of the country which contributes 70 percent revenue to the national exchequer, electricity shortage would badly hamper the national economy.
The Sindh government has approached the Centre following the resolution passed by the assembly on January 27, Sindh Finance Minister Murad Ali Shah informed the house. He said that the provincial government, in a leter, requested the federal government to ensure supply of 650MW to K-Electric from the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC).
The House passed another resolution piloted by PML-F minority member Nand Kumar regarding implementation of 5 percent quota reserved for minority in employment in government jobs.
