RTO-II achieves 98 percent target up to January 2015

LAHORE: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Regional Tax office II Lahore has achieved almost 98 percent of required target Rs 35499 million during June-January for current fiscal year 2014-15.
The RTO-II had estimated to collect Rs 35499 million from June 2014 to January 2015. As per provisional statistics, it has collected almost 34791 million that was nearly two percent less than the set target.
As per detail, the target of Rs 19796 million was assigned by RTO-II for initial seven months of current fiscal year and Rs 19592 million has been achieved that is 99 percent of the set target. Talking to Customs Today, Income Tax officials said revenue target was a challenging job for us as it was more than the target of corresponding period of last year. They added the competent authorities of RTO-II and their strategies motivated the staff to achieve the target as the RTO-II was among those few field offices that succeeded in achieving target.
On the other hand, sales tax department of RTO-II was assigned the target of Rs 15555 million and it achieved Rs 15058 million, while the Federal Excise Duty (FED) was estimated Rs 148 million.
According to provisional figures, RTO-II has collected Rs 2585 million as income tax, Rs 1850 as sales tax and FED Rs 12 million during January 2015.
It is important to mention that RTO-II has achieved the 100 percent set target of first half for current fiscal year 2014-15 that was Rs 30347 million.
The authorities have directed commissioner, deputy commissioner and special assistants to expedite the work regarding the collections of taxes to achieve the target of current fiscal year.
