Multan Customs Adjudication will decide SM Food Makers case of Rs 4.7m tax evasion on Feb 10

MULTAN: The Customs Adjudication has adjourned hearing in the miss-declaration case of S.M Food Makers until February, 10. The Customs Adjudication had taken permission from the Collector for extension of period in the last hearing.

The SM Food Maker has appeared with new lawyer in every hearing, and everytime the new lawyer asks for more time. S.M Food Makers Company was submitting various applications to the Collector Adjudication as delaying tactics in the miss declaration case. SM Foods Maker Company owner Chaudhry Zulfiqar Anjum and Manager Waseem Shehzad are facing miss-declaration charges for the import of Austrian-origin carbon steel sheets through gross under-invoicing with the connivance of clearing agent.

The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has registered the case against the company for alleged evasion of Rs 4.7 million Customs Duty by presenting invoice of 12,700 euro instead of 127,000 euro. The Lahore Special Customs judge had granted bail to Zulfiqar Anjum and Waseem Shehzad against the principal amount of tax evaded in the transaction.

Before this hearing, the accused S.M Food Company has asked the Customs Adjudication to check out   the invoice presented by the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan and Collector asked Saim Mobeen to present their related import record of consignment, their bank transaction and email for the further proceedings on next date of hearing.

On the 10 February ,the case of S.M Food Makers Company will be decided because it took too much time that Customs Adjudication have taken the extended time period after the expiration of 120 days for the decision of this case.
