After the transfer of Farrukh Sajjad from the MCC Appraisement-West to the Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation FBR Karachi region, some two months ago; the authorities concerned have not yet assigned task to any other officer of Grade-19 which leaves the strength of ADCs in the Collectorate at four.

The Collectorate sources informed Customs Today that the shortage of an office at ADC level is certainly affecting the working scenario, as the present ADCs are already pre-occupied with lot of assignments. The importers and traders were of the view that the MCC Appraisement-West has a large ambit and jurisdiction as far as clearance is concerned and most of the traders and importers are clearing their consignments through MCC Appraisement-West.

“The rush of work in MCC Appraisement-West needs at least five additional collectors, so that the trade concern issues should be redressed immediately”, they added. MCC Appraisement-East as compared to MCC Appraisement-West has lesser work load in terms of clearing the consignments, as it has smaller ambit and jurisdiction as compare to MCC Appraisement-West.

However; the MCC Appraisement-East has right now working strength of five additional collectors including Zeba Bashir, Shahab Imam, Muhammad Tahir, Wajid Ali and Rehmatullah Vistro.
