MTN names ‘Suren Sooklal’ as new group chief business risk officer

JOHANNESBURG: MTN Africa’s largest mobile network has appointed Suren Sooklal as new Group Chief Business Risk Officer, President and CEO, Sifiso Dabengwa has announced in Johannesburg.

Sooklal joined MTN from Price water house Coopers (PwC), where he held various roles during his 12 year tenure, including most recently, Group Audit Engagement Partner and Group Relationship Partner on the MTN account and other listed companies.

Dabengwa said Sooklal would work closely with the business leadership team and MTN operations to ensure that risks were identified and proactively managed.

Sooklal has an extensive 34 year track record, working with clients in the public and private sector, locally and internationally. Sooklal holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree, postgraduate Diploma in Public
Accounting & Auditing and a postgraduate Diploma in Taxation.

MTN Group President and CEO, Sifiso Dabengwa says we are confident that the wealth of experience he brings to MTN will enable him to add immense value to his new role.
