Pakistan Railways signs passengers insurance agreement with Postal Life Insurance

LAHORE: Pakistan Railways has signed an agreement of insurance of passengers with Postal life insurance to increase the trust of the people in Railway.

According to agreement between Pakistan Railways and Postal Life Insurance in case of an accident or any other misshape Pakistan Railways and Postal Life insurance will compensate the passengers. While travelling by Pakistan Railways if a person passes away in accident, his family will be compensated with an am amount of Rs 0.8 million whereas injured persons will be able to get Rs 0.3 million. Employees of Pakistan Railways serving in trains will also be able to get benefit from this scheme.

After signing the agreement Minister Pakistan Railways Khwaja Saad Rafique said that Pakistan Railways are working hard to facilitate passengers. To make the services of railway better Pakistan railways has imported 58 Railway engines of 3000 Horse power from China. Last Consignment of these engines has reached Karachi yesterday and these engines will be added to national services after trial, he said.

Railways Minister added that Pakistan Railways are starting many freight services to facilitate the business community all across the country. These freight trains are much cheaper than other means transports which will be a financial benefit for traders and businessmen.

Customs Today has already reported about this agreement on November 6, 2014 that Pakistan Railways will introduce an insurance scheme of passengers and employees soon.
