ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has made a surprise visit for 40 minutes to Aabpara market and G-10 Markaz in the federal capital to check the tickle-down effect of decrease in oil prices.
He was accompanied by Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, PML-N MNA from the federal capital.
A majority of people gathered to see the prime minister without a multi-layered security. Nawaz inquired from vendors and shopkeepers about the prices of vegetables and fruits which they said have come down.
Speaking on the occasion, the premier said he had come there to look into the impact of government’s public-friendly measures like a sharp cut in petroleum prices. He said that the government was working hard to address multifaceted issues being faced by the country. He also vowed to end gas shortage within two years.
The prime minister assured people that the government was also taking steps to get to grips with other issues like unemployment.
Later in the afternoon, the PM chaired a marathon meeting to examined and keep a close eye on the working of important federal ministries.
