JAKARTA: Indonesia officials from the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) arrested two teenagers here the other day during a drug bust in Bekasi, West Java, a follow-up to an arrest they had made.
BNN unit director Brig. Gen. Sugiyo said two men, identified as B.O.B. and P.Y. were arrested in posession of 13 kilograms of marijuana in South Jakarta.
Police then proceeded to raid a home in East Bekasi based on information provided by the men, where they arrested the two teenagers said to be living in the house and seized a total of 51 kilograms of marijuana.
“Two of the suspects are underage, but we still don’t know if they are students or high school dropouts,” Sugiyo told Indonesian news portal Detik.com.
Sugiyo said BNN was still developing the case to unveil the entire drug ring and arrest the mastermind behind it.
The arrests follow a drug bust in Pluit, North Jakarta, on Saturday, where the BNN arrested three Chinese nationals and seized 157 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine.
Comr. Gen. Anang Iskandar said the syndicate had smuggled their goods through Tanjung Priok Port by hiding the drugs among preserved food and children’s toys to mislead customs officials.
