ISLAMABAD: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has taken a notice of 500 vehicles sold at low prices among officers by the Oil and Gas Regularity Authority (OGDCL).

Managing Director OGDCL Muhammad Rafeeh informed the committee during his briefing that no doubt OGDCL sold the vehicles to authorised officers at low prices following the monetisation policy and it is normal practice in corporate sector to sale out the five-year-old model vehicles on ten per cent price of its real price to their retired officers.

He said that OGDCL sold six to seven years old 350 vehicles for only one million and the decision was taken after seeking permission of the Board of Directors. Committee members Mian Abdul Manan and Juniad Anwar Chaudhary criticised the monetisation policy and questioned that how can the OGDCL sold 2008 model vehicle in one thousand rupees and 2009 model vehicle in Rs4,800.

Perturbed by the revelation, members of the committee suggested the committee to send this issue to Federal Investigation Agency [FIA] for investigation. The chairman committee demanded the record of all ministries and divisions regarding the monetisation policy and requested the government to review the current policy and inform the PAC in this regard.
