DUBLIN: The volume of beef imports arriving in Ireland touched 530,000t in 2014
In response to a parliamentary question asked by Fianna Fáil TD Éamon Ó Cuív, the Minister revealed that at least 175,850t of imported beef arrived in Ireland over a five year period. This total for 2010-2013 breaks down as 40,174, 46,137, 41,448 and 26,030 respectively.
However, the levels of imports are falling. From January to November 2014, beef imports amounted to 22,061t. Most of this beef came from Britain and Northern Ireland.
