ISLAMABAD – The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) revealed that non-filers corporate service providers shall be liable to pay 12 percent income tax and non-corporate service providers would be liable to pay 15pc tax if they are non filers.
Through an SRO.136(I)/2015 issued by the FBR, the companies providing services (non-filers of income tax returns) are liable to pay 12 percent tax versus 8 percent for filers of returns and non-corporate service providers would pay 15 percent tax against 10 percent for non-corporate service providers filing returns.
The FBR has imposed higher rates of withholding taxes for importers and service providers, who are non-filers of income tax returns covering companies providing services, non-corporate service providers, importers of remeltable steel, potassic fertilisers, urea, pulses, commercial importers under SRO.125(I)/2011 and import of ships by ship breakers.
Two percent withholding tax would be applicable for filers of returns and 3 percent for non-filer persons importing pulses. Commercial importers covered under Notification No.SRO.1125(I)/2011 dated the 31st December, 2011 would pay 3 percent withholding tax who are filers and 4.5 percent tax who are non-filers of returns.
