TOKYO: Companies like Sony, Microsoft, LG and others are trying get a piece of the market share, meanwhile Oculus has already sold 100,000 DK2 developer kits.
The news of this achievement was revealed by Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe on Twitter.
Over 100k DK2’s and tons of Gear VR’s in the wild can’t wait to see what the community creates. Everyone’s a pioneer!
It is to be noted that this doesn’t mean there are 100,000 developers out there for Oculus Rift. It’s highly likely that numerous units were sold to gamers who are looking for a taste of the VR headset.
Oculus Rift development kit 2 was available for pre-order back in March 2014. Since then, it has set a standard for Virtual Reality products and has emerged as one of the most refined VR experiences available.
Full release of the product is yet to be dated, but one report suggests that users may see a public release in April 2015.
