KARACHI: The authorities concerned of Model Customs Collectorate MCC Appraisement-West, while following the directives of Collector Muhammad Saleem, has announced auction plans for February 2015. The Collectorate has announced two auction programmes.
As per schedule, the first auction of different commodities is to be continued from 16 February to 19 February at Karachi International Containers Terminal (KICT) while the second auction of the same lots would be continued from 23 February to 26 February, 2015 at West Wharf.
The Deputy Collector Auction will supervise the entire process during the auction days at both KICT and West Wharf.
It is pertinent to mention here that two auctions have already being held under MCC Appraisement (West) at Karachi International Containers Terminal (KICT) and West Wharf in the month of January 2015.
The first auction was held at KICT from 19 January to 22 January at 10.00pm. The confiscated consignments including general cargo, fertilizers and shed lights were auctioned in the process.
While, the second auction of different commodities including general cargo, fertilizers, machinery and shed lights was held from 26 January to 29 January at West Wharf at 10.00am.
All auctions are being held under Auction Rule 450(1)/2001. The bidders who participated in the auctions at KICT and West Wharf have asked to pay 25per cent of the total amount at the time of auction while remaining 75per cent amount along with 10 percent Income Tax would be deposited in the national exchequer within 7 days of the auctions.
The sources informed Customs Today that the Collector MCC Appraisement (West) Muhammad Saleem has issued clear directives to all authorities concerned to put their positive efforts in order to generate revenue and holding of auctions at regular interval is one of initiative taking in order to generate revenue and getting targets for the fiscal year2014-15.
