PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa farmers have been informed about rabbit farming in a training workshop, jointly organised by Smeda and Agricultural University, Peshawar to create awareness among farmers about the PARC-ALP funded pilot project on rabbit farming.
The participants of the workshop were told that the rabbit meat contained higher ratio of proteins, calcium and vitamins than other animal meat while it had less amounts of cholesterol fat and sodium.
This pilot project can become a role model for farmers’ replication and investment. The objective of the programme is to build capacity of SMEs on rabbit farm management and marketing.
The participants of the workshop were provided information about various breeds, commencement and management of the farm. They were informed that on one hand rabbit meat contained high ratio of protein, energy, calcium and vitamin than other species of animals whereas on the other hand the cholesterol fat and sodium was less in it than other meat. With a low quality food they give high quality of meat and are source of good income as well.
At the end of the training programme, Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor Zahoor Ahmed Swati distributed certificates among the participants.
