TOKYO: Toughbook is the brand of semi-rugged laptops by Panasonic; it was first introduced in 1996. The company received a great deal of criticism for its Toughbook 53 laptop for its unnecessarily heavy weight. Toughbook 53 was launched way back in May 2011. It took Panasonic almost 4 years to come up with the next installation of its Toughbook, but it has come out now and has come out in style.

Toughbook 54 will come in four models as per customer requirements- Performance, Lite, Gloved Multi Touch and Prime models. Panasonic is claiming that Toughbook 54 is the lightest and thinnest semi-rugged laptop that has ever come into the market. Its portability has increased because of its light weight but not at the cost of its reliability. It is still reliable for mobile workers in demanding market areas like insurance, construction, public safety and field service etc.
