BANGKOK: The customs department has announced that it will hold a live, verbal auction of 241 seized vehicles, including luxury cars, on Feb 27. The 241 vehicles up for auction next Friday include a Bentley, Ferrari, Porsche, Lexus, Audi, BMW and others.
The department said interested bidders could inspect the cars’ exterior at its headquarters in Klong Toey district between 9am and 6pm on Feb 25-26. A 100,000 baht deposit is required for cars with a reserve price below 1.5 million baht and a 200,000 baht deposit for cars with a reserve price above 1.5 million baht. The first and most-expensive auctioned car will be a Bentley Continental GT, which starts with an opening bid of 9.99 million baht.
A Toyota Hi-Ace and Toyota Corolla KE70 are the cheapest cars for auction, with a reserve price of 20,000 baht.
