LAHORE: All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) Chairman S M Tanveer, addressing the European Union delegation, has said the country’s textile industry is taking all efforts to utilise GSP Plus facility, which has helped increase Pakistan’s exports to EU by 29% from January to November 2014.
Green/European Free Alliance Chair Jean Lambert and EU Ambassador Lars-Gunnar Wigemark along with other members of the mission visited the APTMA Punjab office. Group leader APTMA Gohar Ejaz, besides the APTMA members, was also present on the occasion.
Tanveer said Pakistan’s textile industry, on a fair trading basis, is one of the most competitive in the world. The garment industry is energized, and is looking for new avenue. However, productivity of garmenting is comparatively low, and thus requires assistance from the EU. He proposed that the master trainers can train our trainers for improvement in productivity.
