NEW DELHI: Microsoft will kill off their ‘Rooms’ feature, Windows Phone 8 operating system almost two years ago. This feature would allow users to chat in a virtual room with their family and friends and also share data.

According to a report by The Verge, Windows Phone 8 users will still be able to view their existing rooms but they won’t be able to create new ones or send any messages from March.

Users who plan to upgrade to the Windows 10 Technical Preview, the feature will not be available entirely. The company adds that the feature will not make it to any of the future versions for Windows 10, but will rather be evacuated altogether from existing Windows Phone devices.

This move seems justified by the company. The report added that, a group chat feature that relied on all its members using Windows Phones for full functionality did not fit with the company’s more open-minded strategy which aims to put its software on various operating systems.
