ASO seizes smuggled bikes, Indian soaps, Iranian tiles

LAHORE: Customs Preventive Lahore Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) on Friday confiscated millions of rupees Iranian tiles from a godown, buses loaded with auto-parts and Indian soaps, shampoos and illegally imported heavy bikes.

Official sources said that the ASO Lahore Preventive cracked down on a godown filled with Iranian tiles worth Rs 2 million and seized tiles as the owners failed to produce relevant import documents of tiles.

Meanwhile ASO intercepted two buses transporting illegal non customs paid Indian soap, auto-parts, shampoos and other miscellaneous goods worth Rs 1 million.

The buses were coming from Peshawar to Lahore, the official sources informed, adding that, cases against the accused have been registered.

In yet another raid the ASO seized two heavy bikes without legal documents. ASO has given a grace period upon the request of the owners that they can provide documents of legal import of the bikes, they added.
