ISLAMABAD/RAWALPINDI: Capital Development Authority (CDA) has planned to plant more than 300,000 ornamental, fruit trees saplings during spring tree plantation campaign.
CDA Environment Wing arranged a tree plantation campaign, in which Member Environment Syed Mustafain Kazmi along with more than 300 scouts planted hundreds of saplings.
Meanwhile, about 1.7 million saplings would be planted in Rawalpindi during current spring tree plantation campaign 2015.
Efforts are being made to plant maximum saplings with the cooperation of civil society, defines and health departments as well as educational institutions during the campaign, said Rawalpindi Region forests, Conservator Iftikhar Ahmed Qureshi.
He said efforts were being made to achieve the set target. A comprehensive plan of massive tree plantation has been evolved to bring maximum area under forest-cover, which is the basic requirement to overcome environmental degradation. According to the Forest Department, during the Spring tree plantation action plan a total of 1,720,000 saplings would be planted in the district.
Meanwhile, the forest department has established 26 sale points in the district from where citizens can purchase all available seasonal plants on discounted rates
