PONDA: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) has urged that government should set up an anti-narcotics cell to fight against drug smuggling.
North Goa, Durgadas Kamat, organizing secretary of the GPCC, claiming that at least one case of drugs recovery is being registered in the coastal belt, and also demanded that the House committee report on police drug mafia nexus be made public immediately, adding that action should be initiated on the report, as the amount spent to prepare the report is the hard earned money of tax payers.
He demanded setting up of the ANTF within a month, comprising officials of NCB, enforcement directorate, directorate of revenue intelligence, customs & central excise and non-corrupt and honest officials from Goa police who would help to stop the growing network of politicians, police, drug mafia in Goa.
Speaking to media persons at Ponda, Kamat claimed that the house committee report on police drug mafia nexus prepared by a committee constituted under MLA Francisco ‘Mickky’ Pacheco was accepted by the state legislative assembly on October 17, 2013 and for over a year the government is sleeping on it.
