Multan Dry Port generates Rs 128m tax through Rs 1.882b export, Rs 524m import in Jan

MULTAN: The Multan Dry Port Trust (MDPT) has handled Rs 1.882 billion of export during the month of January in the current fiscal year.

The Multan Dry Port is one of the best dry ports in Pakistan due to its prime location as it is the only port in southern Punjab region. A total 348 containers of goods were handled by sher shah terminal whereas Muzaffargarh terminal handled 385 containers. 733 containers in total were handled by Multan Dry Port Trust in January.

Goods exported from Multan Dry Port include grey cotton, cotton yarn, leather goods and a few others. Items imported through MDPT contain auto spare parts, oil & lubricants, machinery, chemicals, Iron steel and PVC.

A total of 733 export and 114 import consignments were handled in first month of the year. The import volume in January was Rs 524 million and the total customs duty, taxes collected were Rs 128 million.
