TAIPEI: Taiwan stocks rose 0.33 per cent on Wednesday, largely in line with other regional bourses and led by gains in shares of memory chip makers.
As of 0227 GMT, the main TAIEX index was up 31.83 points at 9661.20, after closing up 1.05 per cent on Tuesday.
US Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen suggested Tuesday the Fed would not be hasty in raising interest rates, leading Wall Street higher overnight.
The electronics subindex was up 0.64 per cent, led by semiconductors, which gained 1.37 per cent.
Shares of memory chip makers, Nanya Technology Corp and Inotera Memories Inc rose 2.45 and 0.76 per cent respectively after local media reported that they may benefit from the launch of a new Apple Inc product with higher memory capacity.
Construction gained 0.48 per cent, while transportation was up 0.46 per cent.
The Taiwan dollar was up T$0.218 to stand at T$31.470 to the US dollar.
