FBR all set to make Collectorate of Intellectual Property Rights operational

KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has completed its work in order to make the Collectorate of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) fully operational in upcoming days.

The sources informed Customs Today that the FBR authorities have completed all their paper work in order to make the Collectorate of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) functional and the arrangements are being made to start its working with proper accommodation.

The sources informed that the officer of (Grade-20) Aamir Rasheed Shaikh is appointed as Collector-Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and he will be the first Collector to look after the affairs of the Collectorate.

The sources further said that the IPR Collectorate will work with the collaboration of the Directorate General of Transit Trade and it will look after the patent issues of the imported and branded products.

“The Collectorate will check the veracity and genuineness of the imported branded consignments regarding the issuance of patent and also check those importers who are taking advantage of patents during their imports”, sources added.

It is pertinent to mention here that “Customs Today” had already disclosed that the FBR authorities are mulling over to make the IPR Collectorate operational.
