HAFIZABAD – At District Headquarters’ Hospital Hafizabad, three out of four ambulances have been out of order for the two weeks.
The unavailability of ambulances causes a lot of hardships and inconvenience to the patients. The DHQ Hospital caters the population of about one million but lacks several amenities and a trauma centre as a result of which most of the critically injured patients are referred to Lahore or Faisalabad hospitals daily for medical treatment.
Because of non-functionality of two ambulances, the patients and their attendants hire private ambulances and are being fleeced. Patients Welfare Society and other NGOs have called upon the government to ensure early completion of the Trauma Centre (construction of which has been started about five years back) and repair of the out of order ambulances to facilitate the hapless patients.
