Govt plans to privatize entities of energy sector: minister

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Water and Power Chaudhry Abid Sher Ali has stated that the government is planning to privatize the power distribution and generation companies plants. He said further that the government planned to privatize power sector entities namely, IESCO, FESCO, HESCO, JPCL (GENCO-I), GENCO-III (TPS Muzaffargarh) LPGCL (GENCO-IV) and NTDCL etc. He also said that the process was at an initial stage.

To another question asked by Senator Sughra Imam, he said that it was a fact that the Indian government was constructing Run-of-River Hydroelectric projects on Chenab River and its tributaries continuously. He said in addition to already constructed three major and fourteen mini and micro hydroelectric projects on Chenab river and its tributaries India at present proposed four new hydroelectric projects namely, Ratle (850MW) Hydroelectric Plant (HEP) on Chenab main, Miyar (120MW) HEP, Lower Kalnai (48MW) HEP and Pakal Dul (1000MW, ultimate 1500MW) HEP on its tributaries.
