LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has decided to take action against Customs officials involved in helping smugglers and in this regard FIA has issued notices to Customs officials.
According to Customs Today sources in Federal Investigation Agency, FIA has issued notices to the officials of Pakistan Customs who are allegedly involved in supporting smugglers. But on other hand senior officials of Customs have forbidden their staff to appear in FIA against the charges.
Few days before FIA Assistant Director with his team raided at a warehouse in Misri Shah Area of Lahore and impounded huge quantity of smuggled non customs paid items. These recovered items were of Rs 50 million. During this raid at Misri Shah FIA arrested warehouse owner Muhammad Sadiq. It was revealed in investigation that Customs officials are allegedly involved in helping smugglers because it is not possible to deliver 5 containers of goods at mid of the city without the help of Customs staff. Customs have their checkpoints at entry points of the city so allegedly it is not possible to bring non customs paid items in Lahore city without departmental support.
In case registered regarding this recovery of non customs paid items FIA included Custom staff in the case. Federal Investigation Agency has issued notices to Anti smuggling staff of Customs. Officers of Customs including Superintendents Chaudary Saleem, Muhammad Hussain and Ahsan Naveed are sent notices.
FIA will get arrest warrants of the Customs officials if they fail to appear in front of FIA.
