GENEVA: German micro car maker unveiled the images of  smart Fortwo Brabus version of tiny city car.

There have been some memorable modified smart cars in the past, including a home-spun version fitted with Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle engines that rev beyond 10,000rpm and provide power to weight ratios to humble exotica.

The concept is simple: take the brand-new 2015 smart car, fettle the engine, lower the suspension, fit with big mag wheels and customise the interior.

As the photos show that’s exactly what German hot shop Brabus has done to the rear-drive Fortwo and although the technical details are being kept secret until the car makes its global premiere at the 2015 Geneva motor show, it’s clear the car has more aggression than its cute, excitable donor car.

Expected to pump our considerably more power than the regular model, a 0.9-litre three-cylinder turbo engine worth 66kW, PassionBlog reckons smart Fortwo Brabus could develop up to 75kW, although how it will do so is not clear.

Software tweaks and more turbo pressure are more likely than a new/modified engine.

At this stage it’s not clear whether parent company Mercedes-Benz will bring the new smart cars, which were co-developed with Renault, to Australia. Renault’s version is the Twingo.
