Rs55m SNGPL utility bills fraud: NAB apprehends 2 bank employees

PESHAWAR: Two employees of Bank Al-Baraka Hayatabad Branch Peshawar have been arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for their alleged involvement in embezzlement of approximately Rs.55m in SNGPL utility bills.

Against Qazi Wajidullah and Irfan, a complaint was received in respect of SNGPL utility bills. The NAB Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa started inquiry into the matter. It found that the accused with connivance of others used to pocket the amount of utility bills paid by SNGPL consumers through Al Baraka Bank, Hayatabad.

For the purpose, they manipulated the bank record and generated and forwarded fake scrolls to SNGPL. The accused persons in connivance with others kept on embezzling the funds from November 2009 to April 2014.
