LAHORE: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Withholding Tax (WHT) zone of Regional Tax Office (RTO) Lahore has recovered Rs 0.3 million by attaching a bank account of a tax evader.

Sources said that tax evader Amir Steel Re-rolling Mill had not been depositing the due tax for more than a year. The WHT zone issued many notices to the tax defaulter to comply with the department’s rules, but all went in vain.

After giving sufficient time to the evader, WHT zone Inspector Ashraf Qamar on the directives of higher authorities took action against the defaulter to recover the tax amount.

He attached the bank account of the defaulter and recovered Rs 0.3 million.

Sources said that a crackdown has been started on non-filers and due taxes will be recovered by taking legal action against tax evaders.

They hoped that millions of rupees would be transferred to the national exchequer by the end of the current fiscal year by attaching accounts of defaulter individuals and companies.
