LONDON: Valve has joined hands with HTC Corporation to make its virtual reality headset. The virtual reality headset is known as Vive, which will be powered by Steam VR. It has a 1200×1800 high resolution pixel screen along with a refresh rate 90 frames per second.

The device is expected to beat all other VR devices in the market as “HTC claims it eliminates the jitter common in other VR headsets,” according to Game Spot.

As it is known that the device will be powered by Valve’s VR technology, HTC stated: “plenty of games that use it will be available soon on Steam.” The VR Headset will have specially designed custom game controllers called “Ergonomic VR game controller.” The players will have to hold the VR game controller in both hands to allow interaction with the virtual reality world.

The Taiwanese Smartphone and tablet maker has equipped Vive with an accelerometer and a gyro sensor. Moreover, the laser position sensor will have the ability to sense the movement of the players’ heads, allowing them to have a look at the virtual reality domain naturally.

The Room developer Fireproof Games, Microsoft Flight Simulator X developer Dovertail Games, and Cloud head games are a few names which are interested to make content for Vive. Moreover, other listed content partners on the website include HBO, Google, and Lionsgate.

The VR headset is expected to launch in 2015 in two versions; one is the consumer version which will be unveiled in “holiday 2015” and the second one is the developer version expected to roll out in spring. HTC says: “The Vive headset was developed in conjunction with Valve, creators of such ground-breaking games as Portal and Half Life.”
