NEW YORK: Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian will both be cartoon-rendered gaming heroes, as Hilton follows in the footsteps of her fellow reality TV star to develop a mobile game app.

ASX-listed game maker Animoca Brands has signed a deal to produce apps featuring the chihuahua-toting celebrity heiress.

And while the socialite’s status has waned since her infamous sex movie surfaced more than a decade ago, Animoca is banking her brand power can replicate Kardashian’s own multi-million dollar hit mobile game.

US-based Glu Mobile launched Kim Kardashian: Hollywood last June, where players try to climb the Hollywood ladder in a world of parties, paparazzi and luxury homes.

It raked in more than $US74 million in six months.

The game developer is also teaming up with top-selling singer Katy Perry in its hopes to repeat the winning formula.

It is unknown what Kardashian receives in royalties, but reports claim she takes a 45 per cent cut.

Either way, it’s bound to be lucrative: last October, the 34-year-old inked a new three-year contract with Glu to develop the game.

But can Hilton, the It Girl who was “famous for being famous”, go head-to-head against her popular Kardashian and Perry rivals?

Hilton is currently dwarfed on social media, with only 13.2 million followers compared to Kardashian’s 29.6 million and Perry’s massive 66.1 million.

But Animoca Brands chief executive Robby Yung is optimistic.

“Paris Hilton is one of the world’s most recognised names and we are thrilled to be able to collaborate with her,” he said in a statement.

“With Paris’ eye for what’s hot in the latest trends, and our experience at making popular mobile games, we are confident that consumers around the world will be receptive.”
