Enhance cooperation: Qatari-Russian joint committee holds first meet

DOHA: Qatari -Russian joint committee for trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation held its first meeting here the other day.

Chaired by H E Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry and Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak, the meeting discussed bilateral cooperation in the areas of trade, joint investment, energy, industry, science, education, culture and finance.

The two sides agreed to continue the successful cooperation and to prepare for holding next session and business forum in Moscow in 2016, QNA reported.

A group of experts and researchers from the Ministry of Energy and Industry, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, Qatar Chamber , Qatar Holding, the Ministry of Environment, Hassad Food, Qatar Museums Authority, General Authority of Civil Aviation, Qatar Petroleum and Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage participated in the meeting.

From the Russian side, the meeting was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Education and Science and the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance and a number of Russian companies such as Gazprom, Russian Railways company, Russian Direct Investment Fund and Russia’s Sukhoi Civil Aircraft company.

The joint committee is scheduled to continue its two-day meeting to discuss issues related to trade and joint investment.
