TORONTO: Bell Canada has confirmed the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Samsung Galaxy S5.
Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 Lollipop updates have been heating up all across the United States and now we have news that they are spilling over into Canada as well. As a reminder, we recently told you that the Canadian wireless carrier Rogers had confirmed that the Lollipop update for the S5 was coming in February or March. We’re already past February, so it seems like March is the month for Lollipop updates in Canada. We still don’t have any information about when Rogers will be releasing their S5 Lollipop update but Bell Canada customers are able to update their devices right now.
Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Samsung Galaxy S5Over-the-air (OTA) Android updates for Samsung devices can take a couple of weeks to complete. If you have checked for the Lollipop update on your Samsung Galaxy S5 and are not eligible yet, Bell Canada asks that you be patient and continue checking once per day. This is generally how wireless carriers do software update rollouts (a new batch once per day). Android updates for Samsung devices can also be downloaded in other ways. A common method is to download and install the Samsung Kies PC program and then connect your Galaxy S5 to the PC with a micro USB cable. Once Samsung Kies detects the model of your device, it will ping their servers to see if you are eligible for the update or not.
Whichever method you choose to follow, the update is rolling out right now. SamMobile’s firmware page lists Android 5.0 Lollipop updates for the Telus, Rogers, Videotron, Globalive Wind Mode, Bell Mobile, Fido Mobile, Koodo Mobile, EastLink, Virgin Mobile, SaskTel and Mobilicity variants.
