ISLAMABAD: Sensitive Price Index (SPI) inflation for combined income group has increased 0.30 per cent for the week ending March 5 as compared to the previous week.
According to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) data, for the lowest income group earning up to Rs8,000, the SPI witnessed an increase of 0.24pc over the previous week, while inflation for the top income group (Rs35,000 and above) was up by 0.33pc.
However, as compared to the corresponding week of last year, the SPI for the combined group in the week under review witnessed a decline of 2.26pc.
As per the statistics, the food items which registered increase in their prices are tomatoes 18.21pc; chicken 6.74pc; bananas 3.86pc; onions 2.07pc; mustard oil 0.42pc; wheat 0.38pc; mash (pulse) 0.35pc; powdered milk 0.17pc and sugar 0.11pc.
SPI monitors prices of 53 items based on the survey of markets in 17 cities. The impact of prices on various income groups also witnessed variations during the week under review.
