KARACHI: Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Preventive Collector Syed Muhammad Tariq Huda has said that renovation of the Eduljee Dinshaw Road project by MCC-Preventive is in full swing following a fresh grant of Rs 2 million from the National Logistic Cell (NLC), which had earlier given a Rs 1.5 million grant for the same project.

Talking to Customs Today, Collector Tariq Huda said that it was a proud moment for him as the Pakistan Customs had taken up such a great venture for Karachi.

He said that monuments like the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) Building and Imperial Customs House Building were tourist attractions.

He further told this scribe that the pavements would be made around the KPT and Customs House, in addition to nearby buildings, while the sewerage and drainage system would also be upgraded with a view to get the visitors of these historic buildings rid of overflowing gutters and stagnant water, especially during rainy days, when it becomes impossible to reach offices.

Tariq Huda further disclosed that the buildings in front of the Customs House would also be cleaned and white-washed to give a better look to the entire area.

He thanked all those agencies who had assured him of their support for the renovation work.

He also thanked the Sindh governor and Karachi commissioner for their keen interest in the face-lifting work of Eduljee Dinshaw Road project, based on public-private partnership to give a new look to the downtown of Karachi.

The MCC-Preventive collector said that the first phase of the renovation plan would be completed in four months with a cost of Rs 70 million, while the entire plan would be completed in a short span of two years.
