Directorate General of Transit Trade issues circular pertaining to transportation of cargo

KARACHI: The Directorate General of Transit Trade has recently issued a circular pertaining to the transportation of Afghan transit cargo through the bonded carriers authorised by the Pakistan Customs.

According to details, Directorate of Transit Trade Deputy Director Fazal Dad issued a circular stating that all importers dealing with Afghan transit should use bonded carriers having licence of MCC-Appraisement-West.

Sources informed Customs Today that the authorities concerned of the Pakistan Customs took step in the light of the information regarding some unscrupulous elements who distributed pamphlets at the borders in order to initiate bonded carrier facility at the Afghan Transit Trade (ATT) route without having licence of Pakistan Customs.
Reacting upon the information, the customs authorities issued a circular in order to stop the illegal activities regarding transportation of Afghan Transit Trade cargo.
The customs authorities have also started the verification process of the licence issued to the bonded carriers in order to check the veracity and bring transparency in the transportation of ATT cargo.
