Closing: KSE suffers 403pts loss, down 1.21% as PPP, N-League vie for Senate chairman

KARACHI: The Karachi Stock Exchange benchmark 100-index lost 403.09 points or 1.21 percent to reach 32860.57 points and volume of 71,194,550 shares on first day of trading, Monday.

Bearish trend entered second consecutive week as the Karachi Stock Exchange benchmark KSE 100-index Monday down by 0.56 per cent, losing 185 points to 33078.68 points.

The market, having total volume of 35,545,400 shares, witnessed highest level of 33305.26 and lowest level of 33056.79 points.

Earlier, the country’s largest stock market started week with bearish trend and down 0.14 per cent, losing 48 points to reach 33215.67 points in early trading.

On Friday, KSE 100-index lost 105.18 points or 0.32 percent to reach 33263.66 points and volume of 87,833,650shares.

Last week, average trading volumes remained flat and stood at 172.6 million shares per day. Average daily values, however, improved 15.1% and stood at Rs10.47 billion. The Karachi Stock Exchange’s market capitalisation reached Rs7.48 trillion ($73.81 billion) at the end of the week.

The High and Low were 33305.26 and 32832.05 respectively with the total volume traded in the market of 71,194,550.
