KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Information and Local Bodies Sharjeel Inam Memon on Monday visited the Custom House in connection with the ongoing cleanliness drive, initiated by the Government of Sindh across the province with a view to highlight “Clean & Green” image of Karachi and other cities of the province.
Government officials including secretaries local bodies and Information, Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, Administrator Karachi Saqib Soomro and ministers were accompanied the Information Minister.
Chief Collector-Enforcement (South) Muhammad Nazim Saleem, Collector-MCC Preventive Syed Muhammad Tariq Huda welcomed the Minister.
During the visit, the provincial minister reviewed the cleanliness arrangements around the Custom House and directed the sanitation staff to ensure proper cleanliness arrangements around it.
The Customs’ officers briefed the Minister about the cleanliness and security arrangements in and around Custom House.
The Collector-MCC Preventive S M Tariq Huda also apprised the minister about the ongoing renovation work carried by the Customs authorities in order to give new look to the Eduljee Dinshaw Road.
The Minister for Local Bodies and Information Sharjeel Inam Memon assured full government support at provincial level to the Customs authorities for the accomplishment of the renovation work.
On the occasion, the Customs authorities stressed upon continue efforts regarding the cleanliness arrangements around the Custom House.
The Customs authorities also raised the issue of illegal charged parking opposite to the Custom House which creates nuisance in the flow of traffic.
The Minister for Local Bodies Sharjeel Inam Memon assured the removal of illegal charged parking for improving the sanitation condition around the premises of Custom House.
On the occasion, Minister for Local Bodies also directed the staff of Water and Sewerage Board to ensure proper maintenance of sewerage and drain lines, so that the visitors could not face any difficulties in their visit to Custom House.
Later, the Customs officers expressed their gratitude to the Minister for Local Bodies for his visit to Custom House during cleanliness drive.
