The prime minister, lauding the recently evolved national consensus against terrorism, said that this unity has offered an opportunity to carve out a national development agenda, adding, “The political and military leadership is on the same page in their commitment to eliminating terrorism and the National Action Plan is being implemented in a flawless manner to root out terrorism.”

Announcing the further Rs372 billion projects, Sharif said that Multan would be connected to Lahore at a cost of Rs130 billion and with Sukkur at a cost of Rs242 billion.

An amount of Rs55 billion has been allocated for acquisition of land for Karachi-Lahore motorway, he said, adding that he would soon be breaking ground on the project at Hyderabad. He hoped that the project would be ready by 2017 and people would prefer to travel by road.

The premier stated that his government would bring additional 10,000 megawatts of energy to the country to end the power crisis very soon. He assured the people that the power crisis would end within his five-year tenure, adding that the country was on the right track.

Nawaz Sharif said that work on the Pak-China Economic Corridor was in progress and the Chinese prime minister would also visit Pakistan.

According to CAA, with the construction of this international airport, almost one million passengers will be able to travel annually, while four international flights can use the terminal at the same time. The officials said that almost 14 international airlines, including Emirates Airline, have applied for operating direct flights to and from Multan.

Meanwhile, MCCI President Iqbal Hussain said that the construction of the new airport terminal would assist the business community of south Punjab in boosting their business activity, and open new doors of business opportunities in the region.
