Collector Zeba suspends constable in bribery case

ISLAMABAD: Customs Collector Zeba Hai has suspended a customs constable for his alleged involvement in a bribery case.

According to sources, constable Mian Khan was suspended after it came to the knowledge of customs officials that he had asked for money from foreigners to clear their luggage. Later on, it was found that the foreigners were relatives of the Motorways IG.

They complained against Mian Khan on which the IG approached the higher authorities of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

The board ordered inquiry and directed the customs collector to take necessary action. The collector forwarded the case to the deputy collector, who recorded the statements of the relatives of the IG. The victims also presented a video recording as evidence.

After inquiry, Mian Khan was suspended and transferred to the headquarters.
