DG Customs Intelligence Lutfullah seeks IGP’s help to curb smuggling

LAHORE: Directorate of Investigation & Intelligence Director General Lutfullah Virk has met IGP Mushtaq Sukkhara and sought Punjab Police help in order to launch a crackdown on smugglers in the province, sources told Customs Today on Wednesday.
The IGP Punjab, on the other hand, has assured the DG his full support and asked the DPOs of Punjab to assist the Customs I&I to crush smugglers networks in Punjab, the sources said.
The DG Lutfullah Virk has become very vibrant and is holding meetings with officials’ intra customs and law enforcement agencies to help curb the menace of smuggling.
Earlier the DG had meeting with collectors of customs central region including MCC Lahore Preventive, Appraisemnet, MCC Multan and MCC Faisalabad in Customs House Lahore.
The DG in his meeting with collectors has urged them to lodge FIRs against the hardcore 25 smugglers and arrest them in order to deliver strong massage to them that the authorities would not spare them.
He urged the collectors to enhance coordination with police, rangers and other law enforcement agencies.
