KARACHI: Following the Rangers’ raid on Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) headquarters known as ‘Nine Zero’, the entire metropolis witnessed a wheel-jam strike, causing loss of billions of rupees to the national exchequer.

Pakistan International Container Terminal (PICT) and Karachi International Container Terminal (KICT), where about 500 containers are grounded daily, were affected badly by the strike. The clearance work could not be done at the terminals due the thin attendance of the Customs House staff, who could not reach offices due to no public and private transport on the roads. Following the strike, customs duties and taxes amounting in millions of rupees of those containers could also not be deposited in banks.
